Our company was founded in 1989 on a set of very clear values that still underpin all that we do today.

Employee support, development and recognition of success help drive excellence in how we deliver projects and build client relationships, which is why our clients are our best ambassadors.

We undertake over 800 projects every year providing in-depth data and analysis at the start of a programme of construction works to support the decision making process.

Designers, developers, engineers and contractors look to us to minimise risk and provide the right information to keep a project on time and budget and with a strict no surprises policy, in often complex and challenging environments.

With a growing team of 62, we work cross-sector to deliver professional above and below ground surveying expertise to a range of small, medium and large clients.

As well as ensuring our clients receive best practice, we also support the industry’s development and integrity as a profession; our Chairman is a council member and former President of The Survey Association (TSA); and we are proud of our involvement in setting the PAS 128 standard for utility mapping as well as being one of the industry partners involved in drafting the original “Essential Guide to Utilities Surveys.”

Graham Mills FCInstCES, Chairman

Graham founded Sitechnics in 1989 and co-founded Subtechnics in 1999. Graham leads the business and his clear vision, expertise, drive and passion to create a forward looking business that is centred around excellence in understanding customer requirements and delivering service, has led to Technics being at the forefront of its market.

He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors and a former President of The Survey Association, the trade body for commercial survey companies in the UK.

Outside of work Graham enjoys spending time with his family, Formula 1, mountain biking, Lotus cars, track days, Le Mans: note the subtle petrolhead theme…

John Macintyre FCInstCES, Managing Director

John Macintyre FCInstCES, Managing Director

John joined Technics in 1995. He presides over the day-to-day business activities, which include strategic planning, maintaining the company values and building sustainable client relationships.

John works very closely with the Account Managers to develop new business and oversees the Project Management team who deal with all new enquiries and survey team logistics.

John is a Fellow of the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors.

Outside of work John enjoys spending time with his family and participating in sport. He has supported Liverpool FC from an early age and is STILL waiting for them to deliver the Premiership title! He is also a keen cyclist, with both road and mountain bikes you can be sure he’ll be somewhere in the Surrey Hills at the weekend.

Martin Penney MSc, Dip LS (UCL), Ba (hons), Survey Director

Martin joined the company in 2008 as Survey Manager, being promoted to Survey Director in February 2012. A qualified surveyor and Organisation Development Consultant, Martin has been in the industry for 20 years and is passionate about the future direction and development of the industry.

His role is to support John in driving strategic growth and market share through the vehicles of quality, innovation, training and Health & Safety. Martin also supports the Land and Underground Survey Managers, Utility Report, Property and Administration Departments.

Martin’s other passions are his family, climbing, rowing, ancient Greek and Persian history, real ale and Belgium lager.
