Technics Team take on Abseil Challenge

Back in 2019, Graham Mills, the Chairman and Founder of Technics Group, took part in the Guildford Abseil Challenge raising vital money for Challengers. And this year HE WAS BACK with 4 other members of the Technics Team ‘roped in’ to take on the challenge with him!

So on 12th June Team Technics… GrahamBillyDaveJames and Yasmin… climbed 249 steps before abseiling down the 160ft-high Guildford Cathedral, all in aid of Challengers, a local charity who provide inclusive play and leisure opportunities for disabled children and young people.

As the team waited at the bottom of the cathedral all harnessed up ready to go, the nerves started to kick in. But the doubts soon disappeared when part way up climbing the cathedral steps, the team spoke to one of the volunteers who has a child who benefits from the work that Challengers do. Hearing her story of the joy that Challengers brings to her child gave the team a real boost and demonstrated first hand the value of every penny the team were raising.

Feeling inspired, one by one the team took that nerve-wracking step off the cathedral ledge, which is apparently the hardest bit, and made their way down the side of the building to safety.

It was a great day, brilliantly organised by Challengers. Technics have supported Challengers for a number of years and we were thrilled to be able to do something again this year to raise much needed funds for this wonderful charity. As Dave, one of our brave abseilers said “Charities have been hit hard during the pandemic so being able to take part in troubled times is an honour.”

Big thanks to everyone who came along to show their support on the day and to everyone who has dug deep to sponsor the team. We are 95% there to hitting our fundraising target so we will leave our fundraising page open for a little longer for anyone who would still like to sponsor us.
