Investing in our People

At Technics we believe our people are our biggest asset. We don’t just invest in the latest equipment but we place a real importance on investing in our people. By investing in our people it means our clients have access to a happy, reliable and motivated workforce who are committed to delivering a first class service on every project.

Our continued commitment to training and career development was one of our highlights of 2022 and we’re proud to be able to share some of our people development successes from the year :

New Recruits…

We have invested in recruiting the right people to the team. In 2022 we brought in 13 new recruits to the team… including 9 surveyors, Project Co-ordinators, Finance Assistants and a new Senior Geotechnical Engineer. And we’re still looking to bring in further Trainee Utility and Senior Utility Surveyors to further strengthen the team. Check out our latest vacancies here.

Promotions…

As well as bringing in new people to the team, we also place real importance on retaining the great employees we already have.

We worked hard last year to develop a training matrix for surveyors to support the new training targets. All of our surveyors, from trainees right through to senior level, now have detailed training plans with clear timescales for reaching the next step in their career. As such we were able to make a huge 33 promotions to recognise the hard work and progress of our surveyors.

But it’s not just about the promotions. We recognise that some people aren’t just looking for promotions, sometimes they want a new challenge entirely. With that in mind we were also able to support 5 members of the team to move in to new roles within Technics further demonstrating our commitment to staff development and happiness.

Training…

We pride ourselves on our internal and external training programme including the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) that provides our surveyors with the qualifications to continually progress in the world of surveying. Our comprehensive training and career development programme provides a variety of hands on onsite and office-based experience.

Nothing makes us happier than supporting our team to grow and become the best they can be. So we were delighted to have so many training successes throughout the year, from project management and leadership qualifications through to engineering qualifications. We’re also thrilled to have had 3 surveyors pass their QCF Level 3 and 1 surveyor successfully complete their QCF Level 5 with 4 more surveyors also working towards their QCF Level 5.

We mean it when we say we value our team and invest in training and development from the moment they become an employee.

But don’t just take our word for it… Here’s what one of our surveyors, Matt had to say about his training and development experience since joining in the summer of 2021.

So, whether you’re a graduate or looking for a change in career, we believe Technics is a business worth joining. Click here to find out more about the benefits of joining the Technics team and don’t forget to visit our Careers page to see our latest vacancies.
