Boundary Dispute Surveys

Boundary disputes can be misleading; what appears to be a small squabble between neighbours can turn into a resource draining battle that can last a decade and cost anywhere up to £20,000.

Technics has over 30 years’ experience in the implementation of boundary dispute resolution, both directly with individuals and with intermediaries such as solicitors, property developers and land agents.

Our property services department, which works with private individuals, commercial enterprise and estates, manages a broad selection of dispute issues. These range from inaccuracies within title deeds to a lack of clearly defined fence lines between land and property.

Resolving Boundary Disputes

Settling disagreements over land boundaries can often be a complicated process, which is why many businesses and homeowners choose to consult with chartered land surveyors.

Ordinance Survey plans used by the Land Registry only show general boundaries for properties and are often not detailed enough to provide conclusive analysis of property lines. In most dispute scenarios, expert determination and mediation is often recommended by the courts before a case will be heard.

The appointment of an independent surveyor is advisable to analyse deed plans, Land Registry documents and any other relevant information. We can prepare a report that in many cases is used to settle a dispute without the need for a costly court case.

To settle a disagreement, the best solution is to get in touch with a fully qualified surveyor with experience in property line demarcations.

How We Work

As experienced land surveyors, we are qualified in mapping and measurement, and the analysis of historical documents relating to the landscape. Having a detailed survey of a property, either to determine a boundary position before it gets to a dispute, or to help resolve an ongoing disagreement, provides a clear basis from which the parties can work.

We will measure and plot all aspects of your property, providing you with a comprehensive plan that will show all relevant land features. We can also advise on applications for determined boundaries in all private individual cases, and across multiple different sectors.
