Heathrow Airport framework
UK Geomatic consultant surveyors Technics has been appointed onto a framework for Heathrow Airport Limited to provide utility surveys and services protection as part of a £180 million investment into infrastructure works.
The framework is for three years with the opportunity to be extended by a further two. During this time, the company will deliver utility and topographical surveys to support any site excavation and construction in line with the infrastructure programme. As part of their role, Technics will collect and analyse all data to identify the location of buried utilities and anomalies that could impact the programmed construction works.
Technics’ appointment is the first of four new-style framework contracts to be awarded by Heathrow, each for a different section of the airport and as part of a total investment package of £3 billion. The company will be contracted with Balfour Beatty on the Q6 Delivery Integrator framework providing support in its resourcing of Heathrow’s surveying requirements.
Graham Mills, Technics’ Chairman said: “We are delighted to further our relationship with Heathrow by being accepted onto their framework and to work with Balfour Beatty on this substantial infrastructure project. The services we provide will ensure that excavation and construction can progress safely and with minimal impact, which is vital to the airport’s operation. I have no doubt that the team will excel on this challenging and significant project.”
Technics has previously worked with Heathrow Airport Limited; the company recently completed topographical and utility surveys for the HV West Route and T4 Roundabout projects at Heathrow on behalf of Balfour Beatty Construction. The company’s previous airport experience includes utility surveys for the proposed operations building and the South Terminal HV Route at Gatwick undertaken on behalf of Vinci (Taylor Woodrow).
