Technics team get active to boost mental wellbeing

At Technics the wellbeing of our people is the most important thing to us.

We are always looking for ways we can incorporate wellbeing initiatives into our working life at Technics. We know that regular movement and exercise has such a positive impact on our mental health, but with more and more of us working from home it’s easier than ever to fall into the trap of spending hours sitting at a desk with little movement. Not great for our wellbeing!

That is why when we heard about the On Your Feet Britain campaign taking place on Thursday 29th April, we knew it was something we wanted to take part in. The purpose of On Your Feet Britain organised by Get Britain Standing, in association with Active Working CIC, is to get the nation moving throughout the working day. A perfect opportunity for us to get active and break the bad habits we may have picked up whilst working from home!

So, all week we have been encouraging the team to get away from their desks, get outdoors, breathe in the fresh air and clear their minds. We knew everyone at Technics would rise to the challenge – From bike rides to dog walks, (we are a team of real dog lovers!) walks in the sunshine to walks in the pouring rain (typical British weather!) nature walks to paddling in rivers… we’ve even had people out on the golf course to de-stress and unwind.

We have loved taking part in this campaign. But for us, this isn’t just an initiative for staff to take part in for one day only. Prior to lockdown restrictions, members of the Management Team had already begun having one to one meetings away from the office. Whether it be catching up over a walk or sitting in a coffee shop, it’s a concept we will be looking to resume again in the future and expand across the whole team.

In the meantime, here’s a little snapshot of what the team have got up to in their quest to break free from their desks this week…
