London Bridge Station

UK Geospatial surveyors Technics has been appointed by contractors Costain on behalf of Network Rail to provide utility surveys as part of the £400m London Bridge Station redevelopment.

For the current works, Technics has been contracted to undertake a series of comprehensive surveys to detect all buried utilities within the surrounding roads and footways of London Bridge Station. The surveys will form an important part of the programme and inform designers of the impact existing utilities may have on the remodelling of the area. They’ll also support the design and installation of the security measures needed to protect the station in the future and form part of the reference information available for its operation and maintenance.

Graham Mills, Technics’ Chairman said: “We are delighted to be involved in the next step of this significant project for Network Rail. The services we provide will ensure that excavation and construction can progress safely and with minimal impact to the workforce, public and day to day running of the station.”

Technics has been Costain’s preferred utility survey supplier working previously for Vinci and Skanska at the station on the pre-construction works and Thames Link upgrade. It has completed multiple surveys throughout the station to inform engineers through the initial demolition phase.
